China Building Materials Federation/CNBM Group successfully held the technical achievement evaluation meeting for the "unveiling and leading" project

Date:2024-11-20

On October 23, 2024, Triumph Group and STEC, a subsidiary of CNBM Bengbu Design and Research Institute for Glass Industry, jointly implemented the China United Cement Qingzhou’s annual output of 200,000 tons of CO2 oxygen combustion coupled carbon capture demonstration project with Tianjin Cement Institute. The technical achievement evaluation meeting of the "unveiling and leading" project was successfully held. Wang Chonghai, Director of the Science and Technology Management Department of CNBM, presided over the meeting. Leaders including Liu Jianhua, Vice President of China Building Materials Federation, Zhang Jian, General Manager of Triumph Group, Xue Zhongmin, Vice President of CNBM, and Sui Tongbo, Vice President of Sinoma International Engineering Co., Ltd as well as industry experts led by Gao Xiang, President and Academician of Zhejiang University of Technology, attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the project research & development group, CNBM Bengbu Design and Research Institute for Glass Industry and Tianjin Cement Institute, respectively reported on the research and completion of the project. The expert group questioned the technical achievements and gave concluding opinions. They unanimously agreed that the China United Cement Qingzhou’s Full Oxygen Combustion Carbon Capture Demonstration Project is an important measure for CNBM group to actively respond to the national "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" strategic goals. This demonstration line has become the world's largest carbon capture project in the building materials industry and is of great significance for promoting carbon reduction in China and even the world's cement industry. The technical achievements of this project have reached the international leading level, and should be widely promoted in the future

Zhang Jian, on behalf of Triumph Group, thanks the China Building Materials Federation and CNBM group for their strong support. She stated that the research and application of carbon capture technology is an important measure for Triumph Group to actively respond to the national "dual carbon" strategy and promote green and low-carbon transformation. In 2021, for the first time, the independently developed glass melting furnace CO2 capture and purification technology was applied to the glass production line, filling the industry gap. The current implementation of the China United Cement Qingzhou demonstration project is not only a practice of technological innovation, but also a fulfillment of our responsibility for the future of the building materials industry and our commitment to national green and low-carbon development. Triumph Group will take this as a new starting point, with the goals of large capacity, low cost, stability, intelligence, and safety. We will continue to strengthen the stability of our process systems, provide technical support for the industry to embrace the carbon era, create Triumph systematic solutions, and create more value added for our customers. The relevant department heads of CNBM, Triumph Group, and the project research team attended the meeting.
