STEC Conducts Specialized Legal Training on Letters of Credit and Letters of Guarantee

Date:2026-07-31

On July 29, to bolster risk prevention and control for international business and help employees better understand and apply international trade financial instruments, Shanghai Triumph Energy Conservation Engineering Co., Ltd. (STEC) held a specialized legal training session covering Letters of Credit (L/C) and Letters of Guarantee (L/G). The company specially invited Ms. Liu Linyuan, a senior expert from Bank of China, to deliver the training, which was attended by all staff both online and offline.

Drawing on her rich hands-on experience in international settlement documentary practice, Ms. Liu systematically elaborated on the definition, core participants, business workflows and core clauses of letters of credit. Starting with SWIFT message formats, she broke down key elements item by item, including the date and place of expiry, availability, shipment period and presentation period. She also elaborated on the key verification points and documentation preparation standards for core documents such as commercial invoices, ocean bills of lading, insurance policies and certificates of origin.

In addition, she analyzed typical risk points embedded in additional clauses, including common "soft clauses", T/T reimbursement clauses, confirmation clauses and fee terms, and explained targeted risk avoidance strategies with real project cases from the company’s operations. The cases vividly illustrated hidden pitfalls prevalent in daily practice and presented feasible risk mitigation solutions.

As an important part of the company’s legal compliance development and compliance management system, this training closely matched the actual needs of STEC’s international business, combining solid theoretical knowledge with practical operational guidance. Participants commented that the training filled gaps in their knowledge of L/C and L/G businesses, enabling them to gain a clearer grasp of document checking standards, clause risk identification and risk prevention measures.

Going forward, STEC will further strengthen the awareness of the rule of law, deepen business-finance integration by rolling out regular special training sessions on foreign-related business. The company will continuously raise all employees’ compliance awareness and strengthen their risk control capabilities, laying a solid legal foundation for the steady progress of its internationalization and green development strategies.
