STEC Scores Another Success in Africa: Its Sixth Power Plant Project Synchronized to the Grid

Date:2026-10-20

On September 28, 2026, the 16MW captive power plant project in Beira, Mozambique, constructed by Shanghai Triumph Energy Conservation Engineering Co., Ltd. (STEC), a subsidiary of China Triumph International Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CTIEC), was successfully synchronized to the grid at the first attempt and smoothly connected to the regional grid, delivering clean and stable electricity to the cement production line. As the sixth power plant project successfully implemented by STEC in Africa, it further consolidates the company’s brand influence and industry standing in the African market, and fully demonstrates STEC’s full-process project delivery capability and technical strength in the overseas engineering field.

The 16MW circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler turbine-generator unit brought into operation this time features automatic switchover to islanded operation mode while maintaining a stable connection to the regional grid, providing a reliable power supply guarantee for the continuous and stable operation of the cement plant.

Since the commencement of works, the STEC project team has strictly followed power construction codes and standards, and has coordinated and advanced all aspects of safe construction, engineering design, equipment installation and system commissioning. For the critical links such as the boiler combustion system and the steam-water cycle, the technical team repeatedly optimized the commissioning scheme and refined the operating procedures, exercising strict control over construction quality and commissioning precision throughout the process. All prerequisite works — single-unit trial operation, sub-system commissioning and integrated startup trial operation — were completed in full, achieving zero-defect entry into operation of the unit.

As the sixth power plant project successfully implemented by STEC in Africa, the project has attracted wide acclaim and close attention from China’s building materials industry and mainstream media upon grid connection. The successful commissioning of this project not only provides a high-quality and highly reliable "Chinese solution" for Africa’s industrial energy supply, but also adds another exemplary achievement for Chinese building materials enterprises in deepening their presence in the African market.
